The annual Boat Decorating Contest will be held on the 3rd of July.-2026.
Please take a registration form from the float in front of Mick Perry's dock. Let us know what your number is, your name, and your boat type for identification purposes. You need to register your boat by emailing lakewyolabod@gmail.com
Winners will be announced and prizes awarded on July 4th!
Children under 12 years old must wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket while on a boat that is underway, regardless of the type of vessel.
Canoeists and kayakers are required to wear a life jacket from September 15 through May 15, though it is recommended to wear one year-round for safety.
Personal watercraft users and water skiers must always wear a life jacket while on the water.
All recreational vessels must carry at least one U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket per passenger, and vessels 16 feet or longer must also carry a throwable flotation device.

Massachusetts has passed a new Boating Law
Starting April 1, 2026, a valid boater safety certificate will be required for all individuals operating motorboats and PWCs in Massachusetts.
All operators of motorboats and PWCs will be required to carry proof of completion of an approved boater education course while on the water.
Born after January 1, 1989:
Must obtain a certificate by April 1, 2026.,
No penalties will be enforced until September 1, 2026.
Ages 12 to 15
Must complete an approved basic boating course to operate a motorboat without adult supervision.
Upon successfully completing the course, students will receive a state-issued "boating safety certificate." This certificate must be kept in the possession of the certified operator when on the water.
Under 12
Youth under the age of 12 are not allowed to operate a motorboat unless supervised by an adult.

Sat, Oct 25th 9:00 am: Bring your tools and gloves and work on the roads with your fellow neighbors. Fill potholes, clear drainage ditches, trim branches and trees. Gather at West Beach, North Beach or the Association Hall to join the work group for your area.
Environmental Celebration held on August 10, 2025
The Environmental Celebration held on August 10, 2025, at the Association Hall helped participants learn about watershed dynamics that lead to stormwater erosion and sediment in the lake and what can be done about it. FRCOG worked with the LWA Stormwater Erosion Task Force to organize working models, view demonstrations, create a mural, identify plants found at the boat launch by the Weed Watchers group, and have literature available for those in attendance. A special treat of ice cream was appreciated by those in attendance. A reminder to residents: A webinar will be held on Tuesday, August 12, at 7:00 p.m. Registration is required at uniqo.de/b8NajE . Thank you to FRCOG and all the task force members who assisted in the Environmental Celebration.

The Lake Wyola Association's Board of Directors recognizes the importance of participation in town of Shutesbury board meetings by Lake Wyola Association members. In order to keep you informed of upcoming opportunities to get involved we offer the following link to the town website. You can access the town calendar by using this LINK . Most meetings are virtual and a link is provided so participation is easy. If there is an opinion that you would like to express but can't make a meeting, please consider submitting a letter by emailing a particular board directly.
The water at the LWA Beaches has tested clean this summer (2024).
In the event the water doesn't meet minimum standards, members will be notified, signage posted at beaches, and notifications posted on the town's website.

One board member put it so well, "I loved her spirit, her devotion to the lake community, and I feel lucky to have gotten to know her and work with her on the Board. A great loss to all who loved her.

Because it is the beginning of summer, the Board of Directors of LWA would like to remind all lake residents of the Massachusetts State Boating Equipment Regulations. The Environmental Police may check a boat to ensure all requirements are in full compliance.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
*Massachusetts law still requires all vessels over 26 feet LOA to have a bell, in addition to a whistle or horn.
*Massachusetts requires a means of manual water discharge (bailer or pump)
*Massachusetts requires a boarding ladder, steps or platform if participating in any water sports (towing, skiing, tubing)
*Massachusetts requires an anchor, Chain & line
*Massachusetts requires boats less than 16 feet LOA to carry and oar or paddle
